Fully-Funded Post-Doc Opportunity in the area of Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for most marginalized groups, with a focus on Inclusive Policies

Handicap International and the Centre for Global Health, Trinity College Dublin, are seeking applicants to support for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND Fellowship Scheme with the Irish Research Council. This funding is motivated by a desire to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Project: How can government policies most effectively use and build on community level social innovations to enforce the SDGs for most discriminated groups?

This project would involve working with Handicap International – Support to Civil Society Technical Unit.The proposed project would conduct a comparative review of methodologies and strategies for scaling successful interventions in low and middle-income countries; as well as track and evaluate existing attempts to do so. The focus will be placed on inclusion of most discriminated groups, and persons with disabilities in particular, as a critical investment to respond to the SDG pledge of leaving no one behind.

It is envisaged that the successful candidate would be based in Lyon for the first two years and in Dublin for a further year, with travel to project countries as necessary. The candidate would work with Mac MacLachlan (Prof of Global Health, TCD) in Dublin and Priscille Geiser, Head of Support to Civil Society Technical Unit, Handicap International (Headquarters), Lyon, France

This prestigious and very well remunerated Fellowship is intended to identify and support the development of researchers who will become leading figures in their chosen field. Candidates should have a PhD relevant to the project area they are interested in, have published in internationally peer reviewed journals, and ideally have experience working in low- or middle-income contexts.

The candidate would be required to develop the submission, with support from Handicap International and CGH/TCD Dublin.

The call opens on 12th October 2016, and the submission date is 30th November, 2016. If successful, the Fellowships are intended to start in June 2017.
